Black Scoter (melanitta americana) – Campbell River, Vancouver Island
The black scoter lives and breeds on lakes and coastal tundra in the subarctic during spring and summer. It winters further south along the Pacific coast of North America. Diet mainly consists of crustaceans, mollusks and insects.
