Crested Coral (clavulina cristata) – Tahsis, Vancouver Island

This fungus grows in forested areas in both North America and Europe from late summer to early winter.  Although the crested coral is not poisonous, it is of poor flavour and not recommended for eating.  It can also be confused with several similar coral species which are poisonous.
