Description
Bat Star (asterina miniata) – Zeballos, Vancouver Island
The bat star gets its name from the webbing between its rays. It can be found in shallow, calm water from Alaska to California. Most sea stars are carnivorous, but the bat star is omnivorous, eating seaweed and algae as well as a variety of shellfish.
