Orange Jelly Fungus (dacrymyces chrysospermus) – Stella Lake, Vancouver Island

These saprophytic fungi are mainly found on dead coniferous trees and logs.  They have the ability to dry out during times of insufficient moisture, and revive to a jelly like texture when it rains.  They range in colour from bright yellow orange to orange.
